We work with clients in one of the four Employability Dimensions. These include Career Decision Making, Skills Enhancement, Job Search or Employment Maintenance.

Career Decision Making: If a client is in a time of choosing a first career, or perhaps wanting to change their career, we would begin by discussing such varied topics as: interests, aptitudes, prior work experience, formal education or training, values, personality, strengths, weaknesses, barriers to employment etc. Our information could be derived simply through discussion, self - assessment testing (which typically involves interests and personality) or more in depth Vocational Assessments with Bill Roach, a Registered Rehabilitation Professional. From this point we would overlap this information with potential career choices. An important consideration also is: What kind of a future does the possible career have? so we look at labour market information so that the client can make the best career decision possible, for them.

Skills Enhancement: Often times the decision about a career then will lead to the discussion about where to get the training that is required for that occupation. We would assist the client in investigation of possible training programs that industry would recognize. We would also discuss how to apply for funding in order to take the training and how to navigate all the changes associated with possibly becoming a student.

Job Search: We also assist with the various job search components such as crafting specific resumes and cover letters, developing leads lists, networking, cold calls, interview preparation, follow up, and we provide lots of encouragement and support.

Employment Maintenance: This employability dimension overlaps all of the others. We direct our conversation at issues that keep a client from being able to sustain and maintain employment, are there alcohol or drug issues, relationship difficulties, financial stresses, mental health troubles, physical limitations, etc. We work with the client in an attempt to identify these barriers and if necessary, will refer to appropriate resources in the community.

As Employment Consultants funded by the Province of BC, we are also the referral agents for clients who are on a current EI claim or who have Reachback status (have either had a regular EI claim in the last 3 years or a maternity or parental claim in the last 5 years) to other Service Canada funded services. These include the Skills Development Employment Benefits Program, the Targeted Wage Subsidy Program and the Self Employment Benefit Program.

Our goal is to help our clients attain self sufficiency in their employment desires. We hope that through working together the client will develop the skills to be able to embark on their future with confidence and the skill sets necessary to no longer need our services. Our aim is to provide respectful, open and honest communication and to provide the best and most thorough assistance that we can.
